The Eaton Fire Senior Summit Series is a cornerstone of Community Women Vital Voices' recovery and resilience efforts, designed to support older adults impacted by the Eaton Fire. Developed in response to the urgent and long-term needs of fire survivors, this series provides seniors with critical tools, resources, and connections to help them navigate the rebuilding process and protect their health and well-being.
Over the past year, the summits—alongside complementary resource guides—have focused on ensuring that seniors have access to reliable, accessible information and support. Through a combination of expert-led workshops, guest speakers, and on-site vendor booths, participants receive guidance on key recovery topics, including air quality protection, soil safety, housing reconstruction, and access to physical and mental health services.
Collectively, the three most recent summits have served more than 1,800 participants, demonstrating both the scale of need and the program's impact. A standout event took place on August 2, 2025, when Community Women Vital Voices hosted its second official summit, welcoming over 750 seniors, 47 community vendors, and more than 15 speakers, including local elected officials and community leaders.
Collaboration and Partnership is our cornerstone of how we serve our community. In partnership with Neighborhood Servant, Local Churches, Shepherd's Door, and Neighborhood Housing Services of Los Angeles County, the event featured 12 workshops covering a wide range of fire recovery and rebuilding topics.
Attendees had the opportunity to connect directly with contractors, sustainable building organizations, remediation specialists, and nonprofit service providers—creating not only access to information, but meaningful relationships that support long-term recovery.

This project sets the foundation of our story told by our voices and creates a real, honest legacy — a Multi-Year Historical Preservation and Community-Led Documentation Initiative.
The Black Legacy Voice Echoes Our Truth Project is a transformative, multi-year historical preservation and documentation initiative designed to record, archive, and elevate the lived experiences of Black families in Pasadena and Altadena — and to illuminate their profound contributions to the growth, success, and character of our local communities and our nation. This work is told from our lens, in our voices, and through our perspective.
For generations, Black families have shaped the cultural, social, spiritual, economic, and political fabric of Pasadena and Altadena. Yet no comprehensive academic book has ever been produced — authored by the Black voice — that fully documents the depth of our contributions, struggles, resilience, leadership, and triumphs in this region. This project will be the first of its kind.
If we do not tell our own story, someone else will — and too often, they already have.
Led by Community Women Vital Voices, this initiative has been years in the making. It began alongside her late brother, Councilmember John J. Kennedy, whose commitment to preserving Black history and dignity in Pasadena continues to inspire this work.
The Community Town Hall Meetings are designed to educate, empower, and connect residents by providing direct access to leaders, experts, and decision-makers who may not otherwise be easily accessible to the public. These impactful gatherings create a trusted space for open dialogue, community engagement, and critical information-sharing on issues affecting Pasadena, Altadena, the San Gabriel Valley, and surrounding communities.
Our recent Town Hall Meetings featured representatives from Edison alongside community stakeholders to discuss concerns, updates, accountability, and recovery efforts impacting residents. We also hosted a Town Hall with attorneys and legal professionals who provided valuable information, resources, and guidance to community members navigating important legal and recovery-related issues.
Each Town Hall centers the voices of the community while creating opportunities for residents to ask questions, gain clarity, and hear directly from individuals in positions of leadership and influence.
Our next Town Hall series will focus on potential leaders seeking to serve in California government, providing the community with an opportunity to hear directly from candidates, learn about their vision and priorities, and engage in meaningful conversations about the future of California.
From fire recovery response to senior wellness summits, every program we run is designed to meet our community where they are, with care, dignity, and purpose.
